The Lowry

Coming from the Mill  1930  42 x 52 cm, in the end took 18 months, as I wanted to get the texture of the original.

I've always wanted to copy one of the mill scenes and doing one for a friend and avid Lowry appreciator has re-awakened my old love of oil painting.

Following Lowry's limited colours and layering of the paint until it becomes quite a crust was a great lesson, the original here shows how thick the paint became.

It dried a few weeks ago. It fitted in nicely with my passion for doing things that take a long time.
