From my days supply teaching, but I was thinking about illustrations for Orwell's 1984. 

The quick sketches of groups of pupils was a tool to quickly remember the thousands of names! (Names have been redacted). It was great to develop a shorthand of ten second drawings. Some of these have a nice flow, in the english tradition that is my natural way, of the heavenly triumvirate- Ardizzone, Peake and E.H.Shepard.

Also there are drawings by Wee Beefy, of the Derbyheed, and others.

Woolly stuff

My first blanket (2003) My girlfriend at the time had amassed colours from Bloomsbury paintings, anything dusty or faded.

These days I am hooked on diagonals and abstract designs with no need to sew.

In many ways they end up being more interesting than my paintings, plus they keep friends warm when they stop over.

Very sad to hear that Colin Wilson has died. He was a very fine writer and a bit of a cultural guru to me. I'll put on Deer Park by The Fall and think of you!
