Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials - Witches 02
All the numbered witches are not from the text of His Dark Materials, and it's hard to explain my choices other than the strands that run through of persecution, rebellion and times when I lose focus. Of the 130+ witches I did I like 20 or so, but I will show them all. You poor things!

Witch 14 - this floats my gondolas - I had to look and look and then look again and still I hadn't seen everything you intended - awesome drawing. It's captured my soul.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was drawing these I felt as though I could go on forever drawing witches, and it is to do with Salem and Arthur Miller's The Crucible and our favourite painting by John William Waterhouse. There's a vast unexplored territory about witches, is it because of prejudice and fear of the magic? Sadly I fear it's more to do with gender, men have been so afraid of strong females!
