The witch drawings are the result of years looking at Goya's Los Caprichos etchings, Piranesi's Prison etchings, the amazing Une Semaine De Bonte of Max Ernst and almost anything by Mervyn Peake. There are so many other influences, L.S. Lowry especially (64 etc.). Individually most of the images are weak, I hope the bombardment of images has an impact. I suppose I should call them Witches Of The Many Worlds of His Dark Materials, as they clearly inhabit different places and eras.
